If it’s determined that you’re a good candidate, you’ll need two additional appointments – one making impressions of your mouth and teeth, and one for application. Once your veneers have been made – the timeline often varies between 2 and 4 weeks – your dentist will place them, ensuring that they’re the correct size, shape, color, and fit for your smile. Your natural tooth will then be prepared for veneer adhesion. A dental cement will secure it in place and a special light will harden the cement. Your dentist will check your bite and clean the area before sending you home.

With diligent care, veneers can last between 10 and 20 years. They require the same flossing, brushing, and regular examinations that natural teeth do, and shouldn’t be used to chew fingernails or to open plastic packaging.
